Pricing Guidelines
Prices start at $20/square yard. Actual price will depend upon the complexity of the pattern size of quilt and materials chosen.
Basic Tips for Better Quilting
- Choose good quality l00%, cotton quilting fabrics, like those offered in our shop. Polyester blends can cause slipped or skipped stitches.
- Choose a print cotton fabric for the backing that will blend with the top thread color. Using a different color bobbin thread to remedy this is not a good idea, as the thread may be visible on the top, producing less than satisfactory results.
- Backing fabric needs to be at least four inches wider on all sides than the pieced top. We prefer to use our quilt batting, available in cotton or polyester.
- Make sure that all seams are fully sewn. An open seam could catch the foot of the machine and cause disastrous results.
- Remove selvages from backing seams and press backing seams closed. Clip all stray threads from pieced top and back, as these threads can show through ("shadow”) the fabric, especially on light backgrounds.
- Bring your quilt top and backing separately with your personal information attached.
