One Million Pillowcase Challenge - Nautical Needle has joined American Patchwork and Quilting in their national One Million Pillowcases event that lasts the entire year of 2010. To date, we have collected over 225 pillowcases that we will be donating them to our local Veterans Home in Sandusky. If you can find an hour in your busy day to make one pillowcase and bring it in to the shop for the veterans, they would be most appreciative. There are pillowcase patterns available on the Challenge website. If you can't get your pillowcase here in May, please feel free to drop it off anytime during the year and we will get it to the veterans.

Feather and Echo Quilting Workshop - This advanced freemotion workshop with Beth Schillig features those beloved feathers along with echo quilting and beyond, taking you to a whole new level of freemotion artistry. On Saturday, August 28, spend the day experimenting with feather designs and learn to add depth and texture with echo quilting using your home sewing machine. Beth has spent endless hours perfecting these skills and is ready to share them with you!! Workshop fee is $40. Call 419-732-2990 to sign up and receive your supply list.

Quilting with Machines - Quilting with Machines is just around the corner (September 23, 24 & 25) at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron, Ohio. We'll be vending that weekend (Patty, Laura and Jan) so be sure to look for our booth and stop in to shop and say "hi". This will be the biggest and "bestest" show these girls have presented so far, so don't get left out on a great fall weekend at the lake and Quilting with Machines.

Holiday Santa is an original wallhanging kit designed by our own Laura Warga, available only at Nautical Needle for the 2010 Christmas season. This 24X48 wallhanging features Santa holding his bag of toys while looking over his "naughty or nice" list with flying geese encircling the border.

New Snap Sack - We have a new Snap Sack called SPIRIT OF THE BEAR which measures 14"X20" finished. In the cool color range of purple and aqua and a punch color of limey green, this little topper is, of course, made of bear paw blocks and quarter square triangles. A great gift for your Secret Sister or as a gift for yourself!

Yo-Yo Makers and Patterns - I've decided to have a little fun this spring and stumbled upon the Clover Yo-Yo makers and some really fun animal and toy patterns to play with. Stop in to see my little kitty friend along with a dachund, a clown and assorted sizes of puppies. Everyone reminisces about have one of these "pets" when they were young, and are making them once again for their little ones. The Yo-Yo makers make the experience extremely easy and have a miriad of uses from table toppers to tote bags. I have some free patterns for the giving if you'd like to stop in and pick one or more up.

Sewing Machine Service and Repair We have expanded our horizons and added a second drop-off/pick up place for machine service and repair. Patty Hughes of The Finished Quilt in Fremont has graciously accepted our invitation to take in sewing machines at her shop on Arch St. next to Hilty's Office Supply. Give her a call at 419-307-5152 so she'll be sure to be at the shop when you arrive. It's always important to have a well oiled and clean machine to get the best results. At the Nautical Needle we take pride in making sure your machine is in the best condition possible when we return it to you.

Longarm Quilting Service - If you want a professional job done on your quilt, then the Nautical Needle is the place to drop off your quilt top. Pricing starts at $24/square yard.
